Christmas is the perfect time for sparkles, crafts, and a whole lot of creativity!
In today’s fun and easy DIY activity, kids can learn how to make their very own Christmas bauble using simple things you already have at home. With bright pictures and step-by-step instructions, this craft is perfect for little hands — and makes a cute decoration for the tree, a gift tag, or a special keepsake.
Let’s get crafting and add a little homemade magic to your Christmas!
WHAT YOU NEED :
Thick paper or cardboard (an empty cereal box works great!)
A round object to trace (like a cup)
Pencil
Scissors
Felt pens, crayons, or colored pencils
Glue stick or craft glue
Glitter, sequins, stickers (anything sparkly!)
Hole punch (or ask an adult to poke a hole with a sharp pencil)
Ribbon, wool, or string
Step 1 – Get your materials ready
What to do:
Put all your craft supplies on a clear table so you can reach everything

Step 2 – Trace a circle
What to do:
Put your cup (or round object) upside down on the cardboard.
Hold it still with one hand.
Use your pencil to carefully trace around it to make a circle.

Step 3 – Add the “bauble top”
What to do:
At the top of your circle, draw a small rectangle.
This is the little “cap” where the string will go.

Step 4 – Cut Out the Shape
What to do:
Carefully cut around the circle and the little top.
Take your time and follow the lines.
(Ask an adult for help if the cardboard is thick.)

Step 5 – Color your bauble
What to do:
Use pens, crayons, or colored pencils to color your bauble.
You can do stripes, zigzags, spots, snowflakes, or any pattern you like!

Step 6 – Add decorations and sparkle
What to do:
Put a bit of glue where you want sparkles.
Sprinkle glitter, stick on sequins, or add stickers.
Gently shake off extra glitter onto a piece of scrap paper.

Step 7 – Decorate the back (optional but fun!)
What to do:
Flip your bauble over and decorate the other side too.
You can write your name, the year, or a special message like “Merry Christmas!”

Step 8 – Make a hole for the ribbon
What to do:
Use a hole punch to make a hole in the middle of the bauble’s “top” (the little rectangle).
If you don’t have a hole punch, ask an adult to carefully poke a hole with a sharp pencil.

Step 9 – Add the ribbon or string
What to do:
Cut a piece of ribbon, wool, or string (about as long as your hand).
Thread it through the hole.
Tie the ends together in a knot to make a loop.

Step 10 – Hang your bauble!
What to do:
Now hang your bauble on the Christmas tree, a door handle, or your bedroom wall.
Stand back and admire your beautiful decoration!
